The National History Bee & Bowl :
Varsity & Junior Varsity Divisions

The National History Bee is a buzzer-based history quiz competition for individual students. Students compete against other students in a series of rounds where they attempt to be the first to ring in and answer paragraph-length questions about various topics in history.

The National History Bowl is a buzzer-based history quiz competition for teams of up to 6 students. Four students can play at one time on a team (the other one or two students, if you have them, can substitute in between the quarters or games). There is no minimum number of students on a team; you can have a team of three, two, or even one student. Teams consisting of just one or two students play for a discounted entry fee.

U.S. History Bee

The U.S. History Bee is a high school-level competition focusing on American history. The USHB is a separate and distinct competition from the National History Bee- students are welcome to compete in both. The USHB features a Varsity division for 11th and 12th graders, and a Junior Varsity division for students in 10th grade and younger, which is also open to middle school students.

National History Day

National History Day is a year-long academic program focused on historical research, interpretation and creative expression for 6th- to 12th-grade students. By participating in NHD, students become writers, filmmakers, web designers, playwrights and artists as they create unique contemporary expressions of history. The experience culminates in a series of contests at the local and affiliate levels and an annual national competition in the nation's capital in June.
